History of University


University guided by Yayasan Pembina Perguruan Tinggi Pangkal Pangkal Perjuangan in early named Perguruan Tinggi Pangkal Perjuangan (PTPP) Karawang consists of Law Faculty, then Economy Faculty performed on 5th Sept 1965.

The Economy Faculty was not continued, then only Law Faculty agreed on accreditation submission, so the school name changed to Sekolah Tinggi Pangkal Perjuangan (STHPP). STHPP got “Registered” status for bachelor degree on 12th Jun 1970, noted on Decree No. 193/DSPT/I/1970. Then on 5th Jun 1980, STHPP got “Registered” status for scholar degree by Decree No. 08/0/1980.

Next based on Rencana Induk Pengembangan / Master Plan Development (RIP/MPD) of STHPP period 1976-1983, STHPP must be developed into University.

The MPD got support from Regent of Karawang, H. Opon Sopandji who want to build a representative university in Karawang.

University of Singaperbangsa Karawang performed at 2nd Feb 1982. To fulfill the requirement that to build a university must there be an exact faculty, the Accreditation status of Unsika was delayed. This made a consequencies, Economy Faculty became Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi / High School of Economic Science,Teacher Training and Education Science Faculty became Sekolah Tinggi Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan / High School of Teacher Training and Education Science.

On 1984, Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pertanian / High School of Agriculture performed to fulfill the requirement on establishing a University. Finally University of Singaperbangsa Karawang got Accreditation Status “Registered” on 1986 as an incorporation of the high schools from Minister of Education and Culture of Republic Indonesia No. 0503/0/1986 for:

1)   Faculty of Law:

a)    Dept of Civil Laws

b)    Dept of Criminal Law

c)    Dept of Constitutiobal Law

2)   Faculty of Economic:

a)    Dept of Management

b)    Dept of Economics and Development Studies

3)   Faculty of Teacher Training and Education:

a)    Dept of Curicullum and Education Technology

b)   Dept of Informal Education

4)   Faculty of Agriculture:

Dept of Agriculture (Agronomy)
